I had contemplated using Blogger ever since my 11th grade English teacher enthusiastically hyped the format (we were even assigned a tedious and frustrating homework assignment on the site. It was hell). Within the last four or five months, it became more and more apparent that my Tumblr was not sufficiently expressing my love for writing. When it comes down to the bare bones of it, Tumblr is not much more than a social media device disguised as a "blog" swimming freely in an ocean of media-based interconnections populated by Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr. That's not to say Tumblr can't be used as a blog - it most certainly can - I just became a bit disillusioned with the amount of people constantly re-blogging "hip" photos and clicking that little heart button to show appreciation for a post. I understand why the appeal is vast for so many people, but I find myself much more comfortable here.
That being said, I'm not sure if I'm going to publish this thing. Whatever I end up writing on here will be written solely for my own sake and not the affection or approval of the heavily-opinionated reader or the dreaded "follower." IF I end up publishing this, you may find assorted rants, opinion pieces, an album review, or even lyrics/music of my own if I find myself so daring at the time. And, IF I end up publishing this, I encourage you to read with an open mind. I think you and I will find, as time progresses, that I have quite a lot to say.
